Year 2 2021 - 2022
Year 2 Class Teacher
Welcome to Year 2!
Welcome back I hope you all had a fantastic Easter break!
I hope you are all as excited for the busy term ahead as I am. I am looking forward to hearing how your children have been getting on with their revision packs over the holidays as, they will be completing their end of Key Stage 1 SATs very soon. I understand that this can been a unsettling time but please know we are here to support them through this and make them as comfortable and happy as we can. The children have been working very hard to equip them with all the tools they need to help them through the tests, all we ask is that they try their best they are amzing and I am so proud of how far they have all come in our time in year 2. Further information regarding SATs will be given out soon.
Please find below some key information for Year 2 summer term.
As the weather continues to get better and the "Sun is shing", please send your child into school with a sun hat, sun cream (that they will apply themselves) and a water bottle each day.
Year 2 PE lessons take place on Monday and Thursday. This half term we will be developing our skills in team games and dance. Please ensure your child has the correct full uniform so they can make the most of their PE lessons. Their PE kits can remain in school for the full half term. Any child wearing earrings; these ideally will not be worn in PE lessons.
Children can have a healthy snack as part of their break time. Snacks are currently available in school (Toast & Milk) and will cost £2 per week. As a healthy school, we encourage fruit during this time. If your child is bringing in snack money, please ensure it is brought to school on a Monday in a labelled envelope.
We highly encourage children to bring a bottle of water to school daily to keep them hydrated throughout their lessons. Children will have many opportunities throughout the day to have a drink of water. Please remember that juice is not permitted in water bottles stored in class but may be consumed with their snack at breaktime.
All reading books and journals need to be in school everyday. Please try and read with your child at least three times a week as this can help improve your child's , spelling, vocabulary, writing and reading. In school we have specialist trained reading assisstants who will listen to the children read in the afternoon.
The more you read,
the more things you will know.
The more that you learn,
The more places you will go.
That is the way a mind grows
Not with a test, but a tale.
We use TT Rockstars in school ,it is a fun way to practice times tables. Each child has their own login please encourage your child to access this at home.
We use letter join in school as a way to practice our handwriting, please encourage your children to access this at home.
Homework for Power English and Power Maths groups is given out each Friday and is to be completed and handed in by the following Wednesday, in the correct homework book. Children.
