Year 2 2021 - 2022
Welcome to Year 2!
'Learning and Growing Together!'
A very big and warm welcome to Year 2 I have been looking forward to being your Teacher and I'm so glad I have you for the year! It has been absolutely lovely to meet all of the children, they have been an incredible help to me and it is very clear to see we are going to have a brilliant year.
Please find below some key information for Year 2 this Autumn term.
Please can you ensure that your child's uniform is clearly labelled with their name. This is a huge help! I will always encourage children to be responsible for their own belongings whilst in school to increase their independence. Please ensure your child is wearing appropriate footwear, which they will be able to learn how to put on independently.
Year 2 PE lessons take place on Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child has the correct full uniform so they can make the most of their PE lessons. Their PE kits should also be labelled to ensure that the full kit is maintained. Kits will need to stay in school all week as we will be using them twice weekly. Outdoor PE kits will be required as we get to the Autumn months. Kits will be sent home when a wash is needed. Thank you for your cooperation. Any child wearing earrings; these ideally will not be worn in PE lessons and once past the 6 week period whereby new earrings need to be worn, they will need to be taken out to keep everyone safe and prevent any injuries.
Children can have a healthy snack as part of their break time. Snacks are currently available in school (Toast & Milk) and will cost £2 per week. As a healthy school, we encourage fruit during this time. If your child is bringing in snack money, please ensure it is brought to school in a labelled envelope to avoid confusion!
We highly encourage children to bring a bottle of water to school daily to keep them hydrated throughout their lessons. Children will have many opportunities throughout the day to have a drink of water. Please remember that juice is not permitted in water bottles stored in class but may be consumed with their snack at breaktime.
Homework for Power English and Maths groups is given out each Wednesday and is to be completed and handed in by the following Monday, in the correct homework book. Children also have a homework quest to complete which is linked to their current topic for that term - this will be an ongoing homework piece of work for the children to work on until it is due.
This year is an important year for your child as they progress through their final year of KS1. I am already impressed by their amazing attitudes to learning and how independent they are becoming. I am certain that this will be a fantastic year, full of new experiences and challenges which I am positive they are up for. If you have any concerns regarding your child then please do not hesitate to come and speak to me, I will always be available to chat about any matters concerning your child and absolutely happy to listen.
I will update the page as the year goes on for key information. I look forward to working with you this year!
