Year 3 2017 - 2018

Miss Wiswall

Year 3 teacher

Welcome to Year 3!

I hope you are all ready for another exciting half term and looking forward to learning all about the Stone Age and how life for cavemen was so different from ours. We will also be sharing in the adventures of Stone Age Boy through our quality text, a wonderful book written by Satoshi Kitamura.

Having learnt all about number and place value skills using addition and subtraction, we will be working hard on our multiplication and making sure that the times table superheros do not beat us!

In science we will be learning about rocks and soil.

Both myself and Mrs Clarke are available at the beginning and end of the school day to answer any minor questions. If you feel you need a longer meeting please don't hesistate to contact school.

The children have had a great start to life in the juniors and are really trying to embrace the challenges set. We are going to continue working on responsibility of our own belongings this half term. Please remind the children that their books bags, reading books, PE kit, snack money, uniform and letters are their responsibility and therefore they need to look after them.

Thank you for your continued support.

Miss Wiswall and Mrs Clarke

All reading books and journals need to be in school everyday. Please try to read at least three times a week with your child.

Homework will be a topic based project which will span the half term. Last half term we had some amazing work in. The children really benefited from the time they spent researching their projects.

This terms project will be based around Light.

Spellings will be given out on a Friday ready to be tested the followingThursday. The children also need their spelling books each morning as they practise their handwriting and spellings together as a morning excercise.

PE kits need to be in school each Monday. Please can you ensure the children have indoor and outdoor kits. PE kits can remain in school for the full half term. This half term we will be working on Tennis skills and Gymnastics.

Please remember to put the children's snack money into a small purse or wallet. The children are responsible for their own snack money.
