Year 6 2020 - 2021
Year 6 teacher
Welcome to the Year 6 Class Page!
Despite the uncertainty of this year so far, I do hope that you all managed to enjoy your summer holidays. May I take this opportunity to thank children, parents and carers for the commitment to learning that took place over the course of the lockdown - so many of you worked incredibly hard and are an absolute credit to our school! Now that we have returned to school, I hope that the children are looking forward to reconnecting with their friends and teachers and are ready to commit themselves wholeheartedly to an engaging term of learning!
The children are regularly assessed by myself, and their Power teachers to ensure we are up to date with their current level of attainment. They have been streamed into the relevant Power Maths and Literacy groups, for their stage of development. This will continue for a good few weeks, after which they will be re-assessed and if necessary, regrouped.
Our curriculum newsletter is attached to this page so you can read about our plans for Autumn Term.
Should you have any concerns or queries, please remember that I am usually available to talk at home time.
Miss K Edwards
All reading books and journals need to be in school every day. Please try to read at least three times a week with your child. Regular reading practice at home can help to improve your child's reading, spelling, vocabulary and writing so it is very important.
Homework will be set every Wednesday by your child's 'Power Teacher' with the expectation that it will be back in school by Monday. Alongside our homework each week, I will be setting a stand-alone homework quest that should be completed over the course of a few weeks - details can be found on this page along with our curriculum map!
The children will be in PE sessions every Tuesday and Friday. However, there may be occasions when PE kits are required for other activities/unscheduled events and so it is important that your child's kit is in school every day.
